FAQs

  • Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy (PFPT) is a subset of physical therapy that specializes in rehabilitating major functions within the pelvic floor (and pelvic girdle) region(s). (IE: bladder function, bowel function, sexual function, pelvic stabilization, etc.)

  • At MCHW, we also treat orthopedic conditions related to certain populations/diagnoses. For a complete list of these diagnoses, please click here.

  • All genders.

  • At your first appointment, an initial evaluation takes place. An evaluation entails a conversation about what your symptoms and goals are followed by an examination. Pending your symptoms, an internal and/or external examination may be clinically necessary. It is 100% at the discretion of the patient if an internal examination is to be performed during any session. The patient is always in control and the physical therapist adapts to the demands of the patient throughout the evaluation and subsequent treatment sessions as well.

  • MCHW is a cash-pay clinic only. We accept HSA/FSA. At the end of each session, the patient is sent a superbill to forward to their insurance. Please refer to your insurance summary plan description to identify what the reimbursement is with your individual plan.

  • In the state of California, there is a direct access law that permits patient’s to see a Doctor of Physical Therapy without a Medical Doctor’s referral for 45 calendar days or 12 visits (whichever comes first). Typically with most physical therapy diagnoses, the PT care plan is beyond 45 calendar days and for this reason we ask for a physician’s referral upon the first visit, or to have a physician’s contact information upon arrival.

  • The amount of visits to be expected depends on multiple factors. During your initial evaluation, your DPT will discuss what to expect with regards to frequency of visits after a thorough evaluation is performed. At MCHW, we expect you will begin to see symptom improvements within 4-6 weeks. If this is not the case, MCHW has an extensive healthcare referral network in which your DPT will connect you with additional healthcare services to use either independently or in conjunction with continuing your physical therapy care plan.

  • Yes you can. If you are not comfortable with any aspect of your expected treatment for that session, please inform your physical therapist and they will adjust the plan.

  • We have a 48 hour cancellation policy.

If you cancel within the 48 hour window before your scheduled appointment time, you will be charged 100% of the session that was booked.
