Meet Dr. Corrine Macchi, PT, DPT
Corrine did not have a direct path toward becoming a Pelvic Health Physical Therapist. With an undergraduate degree in business administration, she pursued a career in marketing/sales initially. After gaining some experience in the corporate world, she realized this was not her passion. While trying to assess her next path, she completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training in the greater NYC area. It was here that she was recommended to explore healthcare professions, specifically Physical Therapy.
After that, she became a physical therapy aide/front desk associate at a pelvic health-specific physical therapy clinic in NYC. Recognizing the parallels between yoga and the pelvic floor, Corrine knew she wanted to pursue pelvic health with her Physical Therapy career. She went on to complete her Doctorate in Physical Therapy degree in Philadelphia at Drexel University. Throughout graduate school, she shadowed and studied under multiple pelvic health experts at both Thomas Jefferson University and Good Shepherd Penn Partners (GSPP). She also studied under/collaborated with several pelvic health physical therapists at various clinics, including BodyCentral Physical Therapy, Main Line Health, Pelvic Health Rehabilitation Center, Origin Physical Therapy, and the Tia Clinic.
In addition to multiple continuing education certifications through the APTA and Herman and Wallace Institute, Corrine is a 200-hour certified vinyasa yoga instructor, a perinatal (prenatal + postpartum) yoga-certified instructor, and obtains a DONA-approved postpartum doula certification. With extensive knowledge and practice working with all pelvic health populations (see full diagnoses list here), she has opened her own clinic, Modern Core Health and Wellness, in downtown Santa Monica, CA.
